When a couple decides to divorce, they may feel that their worlds are falling apart. Though divorcing parents are usually concerned about the welfare of their children during the divorce, there are many parents who are unaware of the effect that their divorce may have on their children. Though in some cases it may not seem to affect their children in the wake of their divorce, it may perhaps affect them later as adults.
For starters, in many cases, the break-up of a family is a traumatic experience for both the divorcing parents and their children. Many of the children of divorcing parents experience negative effects from divorce, especially anxiety, anger, shock and disbelief. To add to this, issues like who is the more suitable parent to obtain custody of the children and the sort of access arrangements will have to be dealt with.
We at S Skandarajah& Co will assist divorcing parents to focus on the interests, welfare and the rights of their children. We are always mindful of the fact that the children of divorcing parents may experience divorce-related problems. For example there maybe problems arising from conflict between the Husband and the Wife associated with the divorce. The stress of the situation can also cause the quality of parenting to suffer.
